Every car we sell is covered by state law.
New York requires used-car dealers to provide a written warranty on qualifying vehicles, and Chili Auto Outlet honors it on every sale. Below is exactly what that covers, plus the optional extended plans you can add if you want protection well past the state minimum.
New York State Used Car Lemon Law
Under New York General Business Law §198-b, a dealer must give you a written warranty on a used vehicle bought for personal use at $1,500 or more with under 100,000 miles on it. The length of that warranty is set by the odometer reading the day you take delivery. It costs you nothing, it is not optional for us, and it cannot be waived.

Whichever comes first. A vehicle delivered with 100,000 miles or more falls outside the statute and is sold as is, which we always put in writing before you sign. If that is the car you want, an extended plan below is the way to get coverage on it.
What the state warranty covers
- Engine — all lubricated internal parts, cylinder head, timing gears and chain, oil pump, water pump, intake and exhaust manifolds, harmonic balancer, flywheel
- Transmission — the case and all internal parts, torque converter
- Drive axle — housings and all internal parts, axle shafts, drive shafts, universal joints
- Brakes — master cylinder, wheel cylinders, power brake booster, calipers, hydraulic lines and fittings
- Radiator
- Steering — gear housing and all internal parts, power steering pump
- Alternator, generator, starter, and the ignition system (excluding the battery)
If a covered part fails during the warranty period, we repair it at no charge to you. Bring the car back to us and we take care of it.
Extended service contracts
The state warranty is a floor, not a ceiling. For coverage that lasts years instead of weeks, we offer vehicle service contracts through CornerStone United. Repairs are handled by licensed shops, and the plan travels with you rather than being tied to our service bay.
