CloseLine Companion — Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 5, 2026

The CloseLine Companion is a browser extension that helps independent car dealerships post their vehicle inventory to Facebook Marketplace. It works only on behalf of an active CloseLine dealer-management account: your CloseLine account decides which vehicles are posted, when, and how many, and the Companion carries out those tasks in your own browser. This policy explains what data the Companion handles and what it does not.

What the Companion does

After you install the Companion and connect (“pair”) a computer to your CloseLine account, the extension periodically checks your CloseLine account for the next scheduled task, opens Facebook Marketplace in your own signed-in browser, fills in the listing using vehicle information and photos from your CloseLine account, and reports the result back to CloseLine. When a vehicle is marked sold in CloseLine, the Companion removes its Marketplace listing.

Information the Companion handles

The Companion handles a deliberately small amount of information:

  • A device connection token (authentication information). When you pair a computer, your CloseLine account issues a token that identifies this browser to your account. The Companion stores it on your device and sends it to CloseLine with each request so CloseLine knows the task belongs to you. You can disconnect the device at any time from your CloseLine settings, which revokes the token.
  • Your vehicle and dealership information. To build a listing, CloseLine sends the Companion the vehicle’s details (such as year, make, model, price, mileage, description) and photos, along with your dealership name and location. This is your own business information, supplied by your CloseLine account.
  • The published listing’s web address (website content). After a listing is posted, the Companion reads the resulting Facebook Marketplace listing URL and sends it back to CloseLine so the listing can be linked from your records.
  • Task status. Whether a task succeeded, failed, or needs your attention, plus basic technical details (such as the extension version) used to keep the service working.

Information the Companion does NOT handle

  • Your Facebook password or login. You sign in to Facebook yourself, in your own browser. The Companion never sees, collects, stores, or transmits your Facebook password, login credentials, or session cookies.
  • It does not collect personally identifiable information about you, health information, financial or payment information, personal communications, or location data.
  • It does not read or record your browsing history, and it does not monitor or log your clicks, scrolling, or keystrokes.
  • It only operates on the Facebook Marketplace listing pages needed to post or remove your vehicles. It does not read other websites, other Facebook pages, or the contents of your other browser tabs.

How the information is used and shared

The information the Companion handles is used for one purpose only: to post and manage your vehicle listings on Facebook Marketplace on behalf of your CloseLine account. It is sent only to your own CloseLine account. We do not sell or transfer this information to third parties outside of that use, we do not use it for any purpose unrelated to posting and managing your listings, and we do not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes. The Companion does not send your data to any advertising network or analytics provider.

Where information is stored

The device connection token and a small amount of task state are stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage). Vehicle information, photos, and listing records are stored in your CloseLine account, governed by the CloseLine platform’s terms and privacy practices. Communication between the Companion and CloseLine takes place over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.

Facebook safeguards

The Companion is designed to act responsibly on Facebook. It posts a limited number of listings per day at natural intervals, and it never attempts to hide its activity or work around Facebook’s security measures. If Facebook asks for a login, verification, security check, or any other human step, the Companion stops and waits for you to handle it.

Your choices

You control the Companion from your CloseLine account: you can turn automatic posting on or off, and you can disconnect any connected computer at any time, which immediately revokes that device’s connection token. Removing the extension from your browser stops all activity and clears the data stored locally.

Children

The Companion is a business tool for licensed and independent car dealerships and is not directed to children. It is not intended for anyone under 18.
